Dr. Louis P. Bucky recaps his most recent continuing education experiences and explains how attending plastic surgery conferences helps him to improve the level of care provided at his practice.

Philadelphia, PA — In an effort to regularly provide an exceptional level of surgical and nonsurgical care to patients seeking cosmetic enhancement, Philadelphia plastic surgeon Louis P. Bucky, MD dedicates a significant number of hours to continuing education each and every year. Over the past few months, he has lectured, participated in panel discussions, and even performed live surgery at several aesthetic surgery conferences held both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Bucky’s first continuing education meeting of 2015 was the 49th annual Baker Gordon Symposium. In addition to lecturing and taking part in a panel session, he had the privilege of showcasing his innovative approach to facial rejuvenation by performing facelift surgery live before the 500 doctors and medical professionals in attendance. “The demonstration not only provided me the opportunity to share in detail the concepts I believe contribute to optimal facelift outcomes,” he states, “but it also enabled me to answer questions from audience members along the way to help reinforce what I was teaching and what I employ in my own practice.”

Following Baker Gordon, Dr. Bucky traveled to Israel to present three lectures at “Plastic Surgery at the Red Sea”, an esteemed aesthetic conference hosted biennially by the Israel Society for Plastic & Aesthetic Surgery. Centered around facelift surgery and large volume fat transfer to the breasts, his lectures addressed how facial/neck rejuvenation has evolved – including how the proper facelift approach can be used to simultaneously improve cosmetic concerns of the neck – as well as how fat grafting can be utilized to enhance revision breast surgery and augmentation mastopexy results.

Most recently, Dr. Bucky attended The Aesthetic Meeting 2015 at which he participated in two scientific panel sessions and taught two educational courses on such topics as fat injection, patient-friendly facelifting, aesthetic breast reconstruction, and solutions to various breast surgery challenges. Intended to inform audience members about the latest, most innovative techniques and principles utilized in plastic surgery today, he says his panel sessions and courses were well received by attendees, and he is hopeful a number of physicians will implement the methods and ideologies he discussed into their own practices to enhance their own patient care.

Ultimately, Dr. Bucky feels continuing education meetings not only present an excellent opportunity for the sharing of new ideas and stimulation of progressive conversation, they also enable him to improve the care he provides at his own practice. “I think lecturing and/or performing live surgery in front of one’s peers at aesthetic conferences is one of the greatest educational experiences a physician can have. There’s probably no other process that makes you look more acutely at the techniques you employ and why you employ them, which can only lead to superior communication and better surgery for your patients at home.”
