What is miraDry®?
FDA-cleared miraDry® is a safe, non-invasive treatment clinically proven to reduce underarm sweat. Requiring no surgical cuts or incisions, this outpatient procedure utilizes controlled electromagnetic energy to destroy targeted sweat glands in the armpit region without damaging surrounding skin tissues and other underlying structures. How Does miraDry® Work?
Typically taking about one hour to complete, the miraDry® procedure is performed by our expert nurse providers – Luke Levin, and Kate Lynch – in the safety and comfort of our offices. Once a local anesthetic has been administered to the treatment area, a guided handpiece is used to deliver proprietary miraWave™ energy into the underarm, effectively heating and eliminating sweat glands in the targeted region. In addition to emitting this energy, the miraDry® system simultaneously cools the skin to help protect surrounding tissues and minimize any potential discomfort. Most patients attain excellent results after just one treatment; however, some individuals may need two miraDry® sessions to achieve an optimal outcome.

Although sweating is a vital bodily function for temperature control, it is important to note that less than 2% of the body’s sweat glands are located in the armpits, so the elimination of underarm sweat glands should not have an adverse effect on the body’s ability to cool itself.
The results of miraDry® are long-lasting and can often be seen immediately. Some minor swelling, tenderness, and redness in the underarms may be experienced initially, but these symptoms should subside over time. The majority of patients are able to return to their jobs or daily routines as soon as they leave the office, though certain physical exercises and/or strenuous activities should be avoided for at least a few days.
Most men and women are able to achieve exceptional results with just one treatment, though others may need two sessions for optimal sweat reduction. The number of treatments that will be best for your needs can be discussed with one of our expert miraDry® providers at the time of your consultation.
A local anesthetic is administered prior to treatment, and the miraDry® system cools the skin throughout the entirety of the procedure.
