Dr. Bucky Reflects on Performing Live Surgery at Baker Gordon

Earlier this year, I had the privilege to not only lecture and participate in a panel discussion at the 2015 Baker Gordon Symposium, but also to perform live facelift surgery in front of the 500 physicians and medical professionals in attendance. While presenting about various cosmetic surgery topics and techniques was certainly both exciting and meaningful, the highlight of my experience at the conference was being able to showcase my facelift approach to such a diverse group of the nation’s most elite plastic surgeons.

Since the verbal description of a unique surgical technique can often be open to interpretation without clear visual representation, performing the procedure for other physicians to see the exact intricacies of my approach to facelift surgery was particularly advantageous. The demonstration not only provided me the opportunity to share in detail the concepts I believe contribute to optimal facelift outcomes, but it also enabled me to answer questions from audience members along the way to help reinforce what I was teaching and what I employ in my own practice.

Overall, performing live surgery at this year’s Baker Gordon Symposium was truly an incredible honor and memorable experience – one that I was happy to share with my talented operating team. Being in a live setting is extremely challenging and takes a great amount of focus, and the fact that my team was by my side made me once again appreciate how integral they are to the entire procedural process, as well as to achieving excellent results.
